  • Books -THE LAST HERD – London’s last working herd of Shire Horses. With a foreword by H.R.H The Prince of Wales.

    £34.99

The book The Last Herd  is the story of the last working herd of Shire Horses in London.  In 1893 the capital had around 40,000 shires with over 6,000 employed in the brewery trade alone.  At the start of 2016 the Royal Parks'  herd was down to six but this has now risen to eight.   In a series of exquisite images, this book, by multi award winning photographer Paul Stewart, shows aspects of a year in their working life, and that of the people who work with them.  The book features the images from The Last Herd Exhibition plus many more. The book is an A4 landscape hardback of 150 pages on high quality art quality paper and fetures a wrap around dust jacket.

"The Last Herd" features a foreword by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, and from all sales of The Last Herd items, 20 percent of all profits will go directly to conservation work with Shires, in the Royal Parks and Historic Royal Palaces.
